As everyone enjoys themselves on the road trip, the "Eliminator' car breaks down, leading Lewis to try and fix it. But when Lewis is unable to, Phil takes his hand at trying to do it himself. While the car is being worked on, Todd notices Gail's Gordon mannequin and becomes a bit upset. Meanwhile, Melissa's continues to act weirder and weirder after her murdering of Darrell. Later that night, Phil reveals he can't fix the car as Carol makes the Golden Gate Bridge out of Twizzlers to celebrate their in-mind destination to go to San Francisco. They eventually reach San Francisco, but discover that the city has been burnt up in flames, thanks to a fireworks accident by Phil, who had been there two years ago.
With no where to go, Phil suggests they continue their road trip and see what comes there way. Meanwhile, the group begins to get annoyed by each other. Phil begins to annoy Lewis with his obnoxious singing, Todd and Gail fight over whether or not Gail is over Gordon, and Carol and Erica argue over their pregnancies and air conditioning. Erica immediately turns up the air on full blast and causes the DeLorean to over heat. With two cars, everyone joins Todd in the A-Team van and Phil is left alone in his prison bus. But Todd's van is unable to start and they are forced to join Phil.
Everyone becomes increasingly annoyed at Phil's jokes and attempts to cheer everyone up. It doesn't help the group's problems anymore when Phil forgets to fill his bus up with gas. They are forced to walk and their annoyance is still continuing to increase. They eventually reach an abandoned Siesta Patio World. Carol persuades Phil to come up with a plan. They try to pick a place to live, but after two hours a compromise still cannot be reached, Gail decides that she wants to go to Napa, California. Phil tries to persuade Gail to stay as they are a family, but he is unable to and decides to leave.
As Todd tries to persuade Gail to stay, Melissa yells at the group to check out the view. Todd walks over to Melissa to tell her to come down as forced by Gail. He objects but Melissa insists to check out the view. Todd does so and invites the group over to check out the view, which is a bright light. They travel to the light to discover a fully autonomous building, which surprises everyone.
